THE GOAL OF PARISH FAITH FORMATION
- To help students grow in faith: to assist them in developing and nurturing their personal relationship with God.
- To help students become part of the Catholic Christian community of believers by forming significant relationships in faith as well as by taking part in the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
- To help students acquire a Catholic identity, a Catholic way of looking at the world through a network of shared meanings. This involves the teaching of Catholic doctrine, prayers, scripture stories, and practices. (The New Catechist Handbook)
FAITH FORMATION SESSIONS
Sessions are provided for children from the age of four through grade twelve. To fully prepare our children to live a Catholic life, it is expected that children attend sessions every year throughout their childhood and teen years.
All adults who work with children and minors must complete a training course and background screening. We adhere to all the Policies and Guidelines of the Diocese to ensure a safe environment for children and minors.
FAITH FORMATION CURRICULUM
This year we are using the Blest Are We curriculum from RCL Benziger for all K-6th grade non-sacramental sessions.
SACRAMENTS
Two-year sacrament sessions for First Communion and Confirmation begin each year. It is required that students participate consistently in preparation for receiving these sacraments.
“Catechesis aims to bring about in the believer an ever more mature faith in Jesus Christ, a deeper knowledge and love of his person and message, and a firm commitment to follow him.” (National Directory of Catechesis)
